Metecno History

The Metecno Group was founded in Milan, Italy, over 40 years ago - in 1960 to be exact - via the constitution of a small engineering company known as Metallotechnica Italiana s.n.c., currently known as METECNO SPA.

Following numerous expansion plans programmed for the Group, in October 1971 a new company was founded: the Netherlands-based holding METECNO INTERNATIONAL BV. In its first year of business, Group turnover was only 6.2 million Dutch florins, whereas in 2002 turnover achieved the proud total of 926 million florins. This was achieved through company growth, commencing from within, but also the result of a series of important takeovers throughout the world which were able to launch Metecno into the lofty position of a worldwide company.

In 1986, the US Group controlled by the Metec Inc holding was incorporated under the name Delaware, following takeover of Alumashield Industries Inc., a company at the time in the grip of the Florida market. The revenue achieved in the first half-year of business of the US group was 8 million dollars, whereas 2000 recorded an increase of 130 million dollars due to an internal company growth process and to takeovers performed in the meantime.
