ITALIAN SUPERTECHNOLOGY FOR ECO-SKYSCRAPERS

The most important parts of the new "Rotating tower" skyscrapers - designed by Italian architect David Fisher for Dubai - will be produced in Italy.
The fascinating aspect of this type of skyscraper is the fact that each individual floor is capable of rotating independently, but even more extraordinary are the innovative technical features that distinguish these buildings.
In addition to being able to produce more clean energy that they use, rotating towers are conceived with revolutionary construction methods: the structure is made up factory pre-assembled modules, that are then mounted in the construction area.
The Miramax Group in Moscow has also ordered a rotating tower skyscraper, to be built by 2011. It will be over 60 stores high with an overall floor area of 110 thousand square meters, and is to cost over 400 million dollars.
Orders are plentiful and the search is on for a zone in the south of Italy for a new industrial district that through direct and ancillary works should employ a significant number of specialist workers and engineers.

THE SIBERIAN WORLD MAMMOTH AND PERMAFROST MUSEUM

The architectonic prototype -- destined to challenge a place with an extremely rigid climate and equally fragile ecological balance - is to house the Museum and Research center for studying the mammoth and the permafrost.
The design by Leeser Architecture studio was chosen for the low environmental impact, insulation and absolute energy efficiency solutions the studio adopted for the project.
To reduce heat dispersion to a minimum, the structure will be raised by around 6 meters from ground level. The roof is to have a double-glazed super-insulation system, designed to convey sunlight into the building, and flow control systems to dampen the wind an reduce snow accumulation on the roof, while wind turbines and photovoltaic cells will produce the electrical energy the building requires.

RENZO PIANO FOR THE SCIENCE ACADEMY IN CALIFORNIA

The new project by Renzo Piano consists of a splendid and enormous undulated roof that combines aesthetic and environmental values, being made of over 60,000 photovoltaic cells for generating clean electricity.

It will be built in San Francisco, California, and will distinguish itself for many other important features associated with sustainable design, like thermal insulation, rainwater recovery, lighting and passive heating, improved air quality and low maintenance.

Material from the demolition of the previous building will be recycled and reused in the new building, and seawater will be used for the water requirements, made usable by a special filtering system.

The Spanish Urbas property company will be realizing luxury offices and apartments in the center of Tangiers.
Property development in Morocco is expanding rapidly and is catching the attention of western investors, especially following the mortgages crisis in the United States.
The high price paid by the property company, around 3,000 Euros per square meter in the center of Tangiers (the same price as in Madrid after 10 years of property boom), proves how interesting Morocco is becoming not only for the many Spanish investors there, but also for those from the Gulf Countries.

ECO-PETROL IN LOS ANGELES

Helios House is the new elegant and ecological structure for petrol stations in Los Angeles.
Conceived as a cultural workshop, water, energy, lighting and materials were studied to obtain maximum energy performance: recycling of old materials and the use of new, sustainable and recyclable materials.
The roof of the Helios House consists of 90 pre-assembled steel panels mounted on site in just four weeks. Their special form is designed to reflect light, saving 16% of the electricity used by conventional stations, and to reduce traces of carbon dioxide.
The serious problem of water contamination is tackled with a purification system that permits reuse of the to irrigate the surrounding planters.
Video projections accompanied by music offer customers a moment of entertainment.

GIANTS OF THE SKY EVER HIGHER AND GREENER

After Dubai, India and Argentina will be showing off their own skyscrapers soon, in a mixture of design and sustainability.
While Mumbai is building the India Tower, based on the most modern architectonic criteria (solar and wind power, natural ventilation, rainwater recovery), Buenos Aires intends to win the title of world's tallest building combining all energy saving requirements.
The Buenos Aires Forum tower is scheduled for inauguration at the country's bicentennial celebrations in 2010, rising from the waters of the River Plate, at over 1000 meters it will be the world's tallest tower.
